The UBio-X Pro is UNION biometrics’ advanced face and fingerprint recognition terminal. It pairs the manufacturer’s latest face authentication algorithm with a high-definition dual camera to recognise faces in varied lighting, matching 100,000 face templates within one second on a 1.0 GHz quad-core processor. Fingerprints are read on a 500 dpi sensor with a 15.5 × 19 mm platen, and the manufacturer quotes a false rejection rate of 0.1% and a false acceptance rate of 0.0001%.
It is built for access control and time attendance at busy entrances, and UNION biometrics also lists large integrated security centres among its applications. It is rated for 30,000 lux of ambient light, which suits brightly lit lobbies. Capacity covers 500,000 card users; 500,000 fingerprint users for 1:1 verification or 100,000 for 1:N identification; 200,000 face users for 1:1 or 30,000 for 1:N, based on five face enrolments per user; plus 10,000,000 event logs and 20,000 image logs.
Users can authenticate by face, fingerprint or a 125 kHz EM or 13.56 MHz smart card, on a 5-inch colour touchscreen with soft function keys and a clean graphical interface. The terminal is managed from UBio Alpeta server software over TCP/IP, with RS-232, RS-485, Wiegand in and out and an SD card slot on board, and Wi-Fi as an option. The UBio-X Pro has no dust or water resistance rating, so install it indoors; for exposed doors, the UBio-X Tag is rated IP65/IP67 and IK08. Face-only identification (1:N) tops out at 30,000 users, so larger workforces should verify face against a card for 1:1 matching, which supports 200,000 face users. At 89.7 mm deep it is a substantial unit: if fingerprint and card are enough, the UBio-X Slim is 23.5 mm deep at the top, and the UBio-X Pro Lite offers face, fingerprint and card with half the Pro’s 1:1 face capacity. For hands-free recognition at a distance, the UBio-X Face Premium recognises faces from 0.5 to 4 m.
