The UBio-X Slim is UNION biometrics’ premium fingerprint and card recognition terminal. It runs on a quad-core 1.4 GHz processor with 2 GB of RAM and 8 GB of flash memory, and extracts a fingerprint image in less than a second from a 500 dpi sensor with a 16.4 × 19.4 mm platen. UNION biometrics’ Live Fingerprint Detection (LFD) checks that a real finger is on the sensor, and the manufacturer quotes a false rejection rate of 0.1% and a false acceptance rate of 0.0001%.
It suits indoor entrances where the terminal is on show: reception areas, office floors, bank branches and hotels. The face measures 80 × 195.6 mm and is only 23.5 mm deep at the top, behind a 5-inch colour touchscreen with reinforced glass. Capacity runs from a single office to a large estate: 500,000 card users, 100,000 fingerprint users on a one-finger-per-user basis, 10,000,000 event logs and 50,000 image logs from the built-in camera.
Users can present a fingerprint, a 125 kHz EM or 13.56 MHz smart card, or a smartphone. Mobile access works with iPhones on iOS 10.0 or later with BLE 4.2, and Android phones on 6.0 or later with NFC, at under 10 cm, secured with AES-256 encryption and Azure Key Vault on an on-premise or cloud server. The terminal connects to UBio Alpeta server software over TCP/IP, with USB, RS-232, RS-485 and Wiegand in and out on board, and Wi-Fi as an option.
The UBio-X Slim has no dust or water resistance rating, so install it indoors; for gates and exposed doors, the UBio-X Tag is rated IP65/IP67 and IK08. It does not recognise faces: choose the UBio-X Pro or UBio-X Pro Lite for face, fingerprint and card on one unit, or the UBio-X Iris for iris recognition in high-security areas. The slim profile applies to the top of the unit; the lower section is 54.67 mm deep.
